Quayle’s Brewery is a small but growing craft brewery in the hills of Oro-Medonte featuring an outdoor patio, taproom, and event space. Quayle’s Brewery is a destination for visitors to the area as well as a gathering place for the local community.
Position Summary
The Front of House (FOH) Manager will work under the direction of the CEO and is responsible for directing all aspects of operations onsite in the Front of House including the Taproom, Patio and Retail Sales & Pick-up.
This opportunity is suitable for an energetic, well organized, and self-motivated individual with above average communication, organizational, time management and troubleshooting skills. Significant experience being creative/innovative, translating vision into reality, managing staff, and organizing advanced events are looked upon favourably.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include
Leadership & Brand Alignment
- Take brand ownership and provide the vision, mission, goals, oversight, and strategies congruent with our brand.
- Set expectations and hold the team accountable for demonstrating desired behaviors and outcomes.
- Develop, revise & implement company policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
- Use an “open door” policy to acknowledge employee problems or concerns in a timely manner.
Team Management & Development
- Work with the management team to establish, communicate, train and monitor the front of house staff, procedures and all aspects of guest interactions.
- Supervises and manages the FOH team and day-to-day operations of food and beverage, event operations.
- Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage team members to perform to a high-level ensuring excellence in client interactions.
- Provides guidance and direction to team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Assist in recruiting staff and oversee new hire training.
- Develop and implement staff retention programming.
- Improves service by communicating and assisting team members to understand customer needs, providing feedback, and individual coaching as needed.
- Coach and support the FOH team to effectively manage controllable expenses.
- Understands associate positions well enough to perform duties in associates’ absence.
Guest Experience & Event Management
- Oversee and manage taproom and events activities and event operations.
- Collaborate with Chef and Head Brewer in the development and presentation of menus and features as required.
- Resolve customer complaints.
Operations & Inventory
- Monitor actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded and opportunities/issues are identified and addressed.
- Assign work tasks and activities, prepare schedules, and ensure that all shifts are covered.
- Work with the management team to control inventory, order products on a just in time basis and set prices based on company standards.
- Manage FOH Inventory.
- Manage all aspects of Touch Bistro POS & Moneris systems.
- Set and manage FOH scheduling.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed and modify policies to reflect changing work environments.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
Physical Requirements & Availability
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Stand, sit or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors.
Requirements:
Experience & Industry Knowledge
- 3-5 years Front of House experience mandatory
- Thorough knowledge of local businesses and partners in the industry
- Passion for all things Craft Beer with a focus on the local community
