Quayle’s Brewery is a farm brewery nestled on 87 acres in the picturesque rolling hills of Oro-Medonte. As an independently owned and operated establishment, we offer a unique destination experience for guests who value community, a farm-to-fresh approach, and a desire for knowledge. Our team is customer-focused and thrives on collaboration. With two floors of indoor seating, a spacious outdoor patio, and a charming beer garden, our brewery provides a welcoming atmosphere for all. All our beer is brewed on-site, utilizing key ingredients sourced from our property. Our on-site kitchen features a seasonal menu showcasing local ingredients, including produce from our garden, and is equipped to handle small catering and group functions. We also cater to special events such as weddings, parties, and corporate gatherings, in addition to hosting outdoor artisan markets, cycling events, and themed gatherings tailored to our diverse range of guests, from pet lovers to cyclists, with live music offered daily.

Purpose and Objective

Manage all aspects of food production, including food preparation according to the description. Adhere to sanitation practices. Responsible for flawless Mise-en-place on the assigned station. Work with co-workers in completing general duties in a fast-paced environment.

Major/Specific Responsibilities   

  • Prepare and plate food.
  • Assist with ordering for your line.
  • Keeping your station clean and sanitary
  • Ensure all proper cooking procedures and standards are followed.
  • Ability to manage orders from different outlets.
  • effectively communicate with both front and back-of-house coworkers.
  • Assist with receiving and putting away all deliveries. Ensuring that items are in their correct space, and properly rotated.
  • Notify the Chef in advance of any likely shortages.
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are always clean. Sweeping and mopping the kitchen, not just individual workstations.
  • Perform open and closing procedures.
  • Constantly use safe and hygienic food-handling practices
  • General duties and special projects as required as part of the team.

Working Relationships/Contacts  

You will work closely with the Owners, Head Chef, Sous Chef, Serving and Kitchen staff.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Restaurant knowledge and training an asset.
  • 1-year previous work experience in a similar capacity an asset
  • Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays on a rotational basis, with advance notice.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada to be considered.
  • Excellent ability to either work individually or as a team to accomplish a goal.
  • Must be able to work and communicate well under pressure.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Can speak and write fluently in English.

Working Conditions

  • HOURS OF WORK: Must be able to work evenings, weekends. Must be able to lift heavy objects. Able to work shifts (days/afternoons/evenings) 35 or more hours per week.
  • While performing the duties of this job, an employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and carry approximately 20 feet.
  • Ability to physically walk approximately one-fourth (¼) of a mile and the circumference of the unit several times a day.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme hot temperatures.
  • Employee must be able to perform repetitive motions.
  • Employee must be able to work in a cold environment – such as when cleaning walk-in refrigerators.
  • The employee frequently has hands in soapy water and/or cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Employee must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Employee must be able to operate in an environment with moderate to high noise.
